The conception, design and weaving of my pieces are normally inspired by a specific architectural setting, that is to say, I create works that become integrated into a space in my clients' home. Custom work begins with a discussion about the desired effect, form or theme. I begin, then, with sketches and with samples of colours and fibres as expressions of my clients’ interests. Once we agree upon ideas presented I begin the creative process. In the past I have worked with any number of fibres and threads ranging from all-natural cottons, linens, wool and silks to the more contemporary bamboo, viscose and metallics. The scope of my pieces has been from near-transparencies to layered and three-dimensional pieces.
